Resistance: Fall of Man
A lot of launch titles for the new generation of consoles are known to impress as they always take a step and scratch the tip of the iceberg of what's to come, Resistance: Fall of Man pretty much accomplishes that.
Resistance: Fall of Man starts of impressively. The game's Protagonist, Nathan Hale is driven in the middle of a war between Mankind and the Chimera. The Chimera are only knows as a Mysterious, Extraterrestrial Race of Mutant Soldiers of which originated from somewhere in Russia.

The game can be claimed as a cross between Medal of Honour and Resident Evil
The Visual Presentation is very graphically superb. The Game play itself is almost as vivid as the cinematic cut-scenes. The Heat distortion effects are delightful to look at, every character has been well textured and modelled, and the snowy weather effects are a blast.Resistance offers a wide selection of weapons, each of which are different and fit for different roles. You'll at first have a typical Stock Rifle the M5A2 Carbine (Referring to a different variation of the M4A1 Carbine) which has an Automatic Recoil of 3 rounds per second and a grenade launcher, and the Bullseye (The main weapon used by the Chimeran Foot soldiers) a rifle which isn't as accurate but fires about 7 rounds per second as well as a homing tag, which draws all your rounds once latched onto a target. The Animations are very well done, as you'll be seing different animations for each Chimeran Creature, such as a Titan either tossing a fellow comrade across the battle field or a scout sneaking behind an unsuspecting victim and popping them in the head.
"Say Uncle.. Say It!"
The Game play however is rather difficult at stages, the game attempts to present a tactical yet Old School style which is overall quite hard, as it is easy to die but hard to take down your enemies (Think playing Call of Duty, without using Iron sights). The Lack of checkpoints also makes the game quite frustrating, at times. And even playing on the Easy Difficulty Setting is quite challenging.
The Multiplayer sounds impressive having support for up to 40 players duking it out at once but really, there's no sense of excitement as you play. Once killed by another Rival the respawn time makes the wait quite dull and the fact that it has a squad system yet doesn't promote teamwork is another thing.
Overall the game is well presented and will offer a good 12 hours of play through the
Single Player. And depending on your taste of the Multi player could keep you playing for awhile.
The lack of checkpoints should've been something that could have been fixed in an Update as well.
7.6/10
A Platform Launch Title that's worth a look
